E – Commerce — Friend or Foe to Wholesale Distribution

Many of you in the distribution industry are still wondering how much more change and future technology will impact your company. Will major producers, large chains and group alliances use the net as a weapon to replace you, the small to medium size manufacturer? Will you become road kill consumed by the vultures of platform roll-ups? Or perhaps the Internet will administer a slow, withering death, painful and extended.

Forget it. Banish that thought. When the dust settles you will still be around. The magic of the Internet is not really magic. Emerging technologies behind e-commerce are not going to kill your company tomorrow or the next day, or the next day after that. But, they are also not going to go away. However, E-commerce with regard to wholesale distribution has predominantly been hype and it is overrated, which is the case with most great technological revolutions. The impact of E-commerce has been overrated in the short-term and will probably be underestimated in the long run.

Undoubtedly technology has changed the way we think. The Internet has created a new channel to market but consider the failure of dot coms. The e-tailers of the world have suffered dramatic stock downgrades in spite of overall unprecedented growth rates. One of the major enlightenments realized by many dot.com companies who no longer exist (besides having a poor business model) is the fact that they lacked distribution experience

Don’t fear E-commerce

Fundamentally, the emerging technologies supporting it are nothing more than tools that have the potential to improve your business processes. You have to learn to use them to your advantage. Get in the game and E-commerce will no longer look like a threat. Industry experts proclaim that various instruments of E-commerce represent a broad paradigm shift. The reality is that a large number of complex systems must be implemented successfully to fulfill even a portion of their grand vision. This doesn’t mean that new technologies adopted by E-commerce can’t have a revolutionary effect on your business, but this effect will be limited by how much improvement evolves in the basic business process.

People still like to do business with people

That won’t change in our lifetime and it may never change. Learn to deal with it. The way to deal with it is to broaden your understanding of E-business and use technology to your advantage. As a wholesale distributor with the level of margins available in your industry, you can’t afford to be on “the bleeding edge of technology;” however, you are going to have to be in the game. An E-business strategy is actually a subset, or subordinate to, the company business strategy.

Don’t make the mistake of confusing E-commerce with E-business

E-commerce is selling product via the Internet as many of the dot coms have done; E-business is utilizing the technology of the Internet to improve your processes and take costs out of the supply chain. Many distributors don’t really have an E-business strategy. Their value propositions to their customers and suppliers are unclear with little or no hard data. Most are limited to talking about the quality of their people (unqualified) and promoting service (unmeasured externally) mistakenly as a core competency.

From an E-business perspective it is critical that distributors have facts and data to answer the following questions. If you are going to build an E-business strategy out of fear, based on long standing perceptions and opinions, the market will expose these assumptions in an expensive or painful fashion.

o What are your key value propositions to your customers?

o What do your customers think of you as a supplier, compared to their competitive alternatives?

o What are the key sources of pain or frustration for your customers?

With answers to the above questions, combined with a real business strategy, an E-business strategy can be completed.

So – have no fear

Customers will continue to choose you in the future if it is to their advantage, just like in the past. Today, however, a lot more thought goes into deciding whether or not what you provide is to their advantage. Are you taking away their pain and frustration? How do you compare to their competitive alternatives? In spite of what many of your salesmen tell you, price is clearly NOT the only determinant of advantage.

Most of the distributor salesmen have some fear of the Internet:

“Will my role stay the same based on new technology and the web?”

” Will I be replaced or become obsolete?”

“Will E-commerce replace the need for distributors?”

“Should I buy an orange grove and move to Florida?”

The answer to all those questions, except, perhaps, the last one, is NO! There is no doubt that market dynamics will change. However, the most resilient will survive. E-business technology will replace or improve transaction activities currently performed by sales representatives. Sale force automation, customer management packages and new communications tools will allow sales representatives to be much more effective in their pursuit of new business.

These technologies are not a threat to you!

They are your weapons, your defense used to battle E-commerce. They will assist you in maintaining competitive advantage. The new E-business sales rep will focus on growth and new business prospecting and penetrating existing accounts in a different fashion than they did in the past. Analytical tools will become commonplace used to assess potential and targeting based on ideal customer criteria. Laptops and palm pilots will become standard equipment. E-business technology is the way to manage multiple customer complexity, multiple product complexity and provide value by reducing cost in the supply chain. Use the technology tools available as a sales representative.

E-Commerce is not the threat it’s perceived to be and E-business is your ally

Silver bullet—knowledge management

What’s coming next will be presented as if it were magic, the “silver bullet” to solve all your organizational problems. In a few years E-commerce will be old news and some distributors will have wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars while others will have gained significant benefits from e-business technology as the industry goes through major change.

“Knowledge Management will be the next wave of why you need to spend money now.” For all you “Trekkies” out there, think back to the old Star Trek TV series. Captain Kirk could ask the Enterprise computer anything and he would get exactly the right answer.”

“This new millennium “Silver Bullet” will capture all of the wisdom and experience of your employees. Your customers, vendors and employees all benefit from having the right information at their fingertips making the right decision.”

IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Sun and a host of others have been making huge investments in knowledge management over the past few years. The announcement last year on the Microsoft digital dashboard represents the first of a series of new product. Over the next year many new solutions will appear on the market.

Like E-commerce and most emerging technology, the short-term hype will be much larger than the reality.

The blood leeching level of transition

If you compare where we are today on ‘Knowledge Management’ to medicine, you would conclude that we are at the blood-leeching solution level.

It will be many years before there is anything to go buy that will provide that silver bullet. Having said all that, knowledge management will become very powerful and real world impacts can be achieved now for a lot less money than the cost of an E-commerce catalog. It is not really a technology availability issue; it is a work design issue. The technology requirement is minimal and many organizations have at least part in place now. It requires some kind of Intranet or Extranet on a client server network with employees’ station PCs that provide high-speed access to the web. Basically all technology tools can be purchased at Staples or Office Depot.

So, how does this relate to the threat of E-commerce to distribution? The bottom line is that you can circumvent any threat (real or imagined) imposed by E-commerce by using E-business strategy to your advantage.

Don’t panic

The secret of E-business is actually pretty easy. It lies in the fact that you will always feel somewhat overwhelmed by new technology, feel behind and be unsure as to your next step. If you sit there and do nothing, you, in fact, have made a decision; a decision that paralyzes you into total inaction. It’s also just as deadly to overreact and get on the “bleeding edge of the technology revolution.” Many technology service providers sell a promise that if you spend “tons of money” and put their package in, then you will be caught up overnight and hit a home run. This is not a cosmic truth. The fact is you will never be “caught up.” As soon as your solution is in, a better one will come along.

A more balanced approach is recognizing that you need an E-business strategy that complements and integrates into your overall business plan. The very first and most important requirement for E-business evolution is effective involvement and leadership. Now is not the time to whine about E-commerce, multiple channels and eroding margins. Now is the time to act and use E-business as a resource and asset.

Become a Web Head Evangelist

Create competitive advantage with E-business strategy and your fear of E-commerce will subside. Any senior executive who offloads his E-business strategy to an IT (Information Technology) department is making a mistake and will not achieve the desired objectives. You must come to the critical understanding that this is a process, or a journey and not a destination. This process must be led from the front line where the senior executive understands and develops the strategy to the point that he qualifies himself as a “Web Head Evangelist.”

The bottom line

The bottom line is that E-business technology will continue to progress at a rate that is almost unbelievable. Each advance eclipses the one preceding it. As microprocessors become more powerful and less expensive, they become more commonplace in day-to-day use. You need to grow your business with an E-business strategy that takes advantage of these advancements, gaining abilities in time and scale. The world is creating a technological edge that has no boundaries.

You cannot be afraid of it!

You cannot ignore it!

You must be a part of it.

You must use it to your advantage to retain or create competitive advantage.

And from other side seller invent, that he want to start e-commerce, but he not sure what it is and how its works!

What is E-commerce?

Electronic commerce or ecommerce is a term for any type of business, or commercial transaction, that involves the transfer of information across the Internet or other network.(monstercommerce.com)

Different types of E-commerce.

*B2B (Business-to-Business) is a from of electronic commerce in which companies doing business with each other such as manufacturers selling to distributors and wholesalers selling to retailers. Pricing is based on quantity of order and is often negotiable.

*B2C (Business-to-Consumer) is a form of electronic commerce in which products or services are sold from a firm or company to a consumer. This selling usually happened through catalogs, e-shops!

*B2E (Business to Employee) is a form of electronic commerce which is more commonly known as an “Intranet”. A basic focus of business is the employee, rather than the consumer! Usually it is some kind of portal for everyone within an organization. This portal is designed to include not only everything that an employee might hope to find on an intranet, but also any personal information and links that the employee might want.

*C2C (Consumer-to-Consumer) is a form of electronic commerce in which involves the electronically-facilitated transactions between consumers through some third party. A common example is the online auctio, in which a consumer posts an item for sale and other consumers bid to purchase it; the third party generally charges a flat fee or commission.

There are also other types of E-commerce, for example, G2G (Goverment-to-Goverment), G2B (Goverment-to-Bussines) and other which are connected to government, but these four are the main.

E-commerce and security

How we already know that to make e-commerce we need computer and of course – systems. Any system which provide any type of e-commerce need to answer four requirements:

*privacy: information must be kept from unauthorized parties.

*integrity: message must not be altered or tampered with.

*authentication: sender and recipient must prove their identities to each other.

*non-repudiation: proof is needed that the message was indeed received.

These requirements is needed to make safe cooperation between service provider and customer, and, of course, prevent third side interference!

How execute these requirements?

To execute these requirements you can choose one or some of the different suggestions:

*PKI – Public Key Infrastructure – to provide privacy and authentication.

*Digital Signature – to provide authentication and integrity.

*SSL – Secure Socket Layer – to provide privacy and authentication.

*Time Stamp and others.

For now, most popular solution in e-commerce security is Secure Socket Layer or SSL. It is so because its merge the best attributes from PKI. SSL uses PKI and Digital Certificates to ensure privacy and authentication.

The procedure is something like this: the client sends a message to the server, which replies with a digital certificate. Using PKI, server and client negotiate to create session keys, which are symmetrical secret keys specially created for that particular transmission. Once the session keys are agreed, communication continues with these session keys and the digital certificates. (ecommerce-digest.com)

To known that this page is secure with SSL, you need just look to the address bar: if the address begins with “https” and there is padlock icon at the bottom of the page, than you can be sure that this page is safer than other! Why safer, but not totally safe? Because totally safe web pages didn’t exist!

Most of e-commerce provider leave the mechanics of security to hosting company or IT staff, but for each who want to start e-commerce, is important known how it works and whats responsibilities are asked from this side!

E-Commerce Web Design Made Easy

Considering the newness of the internet and World Wide Web, it’s safe to say that nearly everyone who has purchased online gained their understanding of commerce offline. “Dirt-side” commerce transactions have structural, schematic, and semantic orders that don’t fully map to the different medium of the web, and it’s this gap in mapping that causes the problems users experience trying to shop online, whether the problems stem directly from usability flaws or unmet expectations.

Commerce is a communicative transaction between two parties playing very familiar role: buyer and seller. For commerce to occur, somebody must do the selling, and somebody must do the buying, and these two some bodies must share a basic understanding of how the transaction is generally supposed to flow. Ecommerce web sites can’t simply make products available to be bought (surface it, they will buy…); these sites must hold up their part of role-playing the commerce transaction.

Ecommerce web sites must pay attention to how they communicate to user. Ecommerce sites play their role of seller by trying to broadcast two messages to potential buyers: “buy from us” and “trust us”. The impact of these explicit messages, though, is often corrupted by contradictory or distracting messages implicit in the site’s implementation of navigation flow, page layout, visual continuity, and information space.

Users come to online commerce with some key experiential understandings of the characteristics of traditional commerce.

Identity. Customers can easily authenticate the identity of a merchant simply by walking into a bricks-and-mortar store. Stores can be members of a community and neighborhood; they can be part of customers’ daily experience. There is concreteness about a physical store that no amount of HTML will ever match.

Immediacy. Customers can touch and feel and hold the merchandise. Tactile cues can drive the decision to buy. A transaction that is face-to-face is usually unmediated: your communication with the merchant is not in the hands of a third party or technology (as with ordering by phone).

Value. The item at the center of the commerce transaction — the product, service, or property that is to be sold/bought — has some kind of value. Its price is determined and validated through the performance of the transaction. The seller agrees to a selling price, and the buyer agrees to a buying price. The value of an item, especially the relative value an item has for the buyer, is much easier to appraise if that item is close at hand.

A commerce transaction is a communicative transaction; that is, if two parties engage in a commercial transaction — buying and selling something — then that event is actually based not solely on the exchange of goods but also on linguistic and social role-playing. Commerce is governed by social rules (in any culture, a seller follows certain rules of behavior that are different from the buyer’s rules of behavior), and by linguistic rules (certain words, gestures and tones have meanings specific to a discussion about buying something).

A commerce transaction has two roles: seller and buyer. Each of these roles has its own agenda, but the logical assumption of a commerce transaction is that both parties want to cooperate to find a mutually acceptable solution. Each of these roles has a set of beliefs and expectations about its own purpose and agenda in a transaction, as well as beliefs and expectations about the other role’s, well, role.

For commerce sites to succeed, they must be aware of all the messages they are broadcasting to users and potential customers. Commerce cannot simply declare that they are the best or the most trustworthy if they also surface cues that contradict these messages. Users will pick up on such contradictions, even though they may not understand what they are reacting to.

“Buy From Us”

The basic goal of a commerce site is to sell something, a product or a service; even if the company launching a commerce site has other goals, such as establishing an online presence, a commerce web site is a place for selling. Commerce sites use some powerful tools and techniques — including merchandising, advertising, and reviews — to focus the “buy from us” message, make it stronger, and make it more attractive to the user.

“Trust Us”

If the basic message of any commerce site is “buy from us”, the higher-level message — the meta message — is “trust us”. Users are unlikely to purchase from a site unless they are satisfied that the site is trustworthy. As with a user’s perception of the simpler message “buy from us”, users process multiple explicit and implicit cues when assessing a site’s trustworthiness, but trust can be a tougher sell.

Massage in Bucharest

Recognize it! You’re busy! And so must be! That’s what life is like! But you want more than that, you want to do more for yourself and massage can help. Because massage makes more than a simple relaxation of the mind and body. It keeps your body in shape and gives you enough energy to make you enjoy a longer life better than you do it today.

Massage releases stress. At the moment, stress is a universal evil. Every time you are late, every time you avoid a car in traffic, every time you have trouble working, stress is doing his job. Each time adrenaline increases heart rate and cortisone levels and organs respond to the measure. You will be in a state of nerves and constant agitation.
When there is no release of stress, serious problems such as an upset stomach, hypertension, sleep disturbances, chest pain, or existing illness may worsen.

Some of the changes that may occur are: Anxiety, lack of concentration, depression, permanent fatigue, muscle or bone pain, sexual dysfunction, excessive sleep or insomnia

All these stress-related problems can be diminished and some can be totally eliminated by massage. The researchers concluded that a massage session can lower heart rate and blood pressure, relax your muscles and increase endorphin production. The massage also releases serotonin and dopamine and the result is a general relaxation, both physical and mental.
Our body care must be at the top of the priorities.
By adding the massage to your routine you will look much better and you will be much healthier and relaxed. Massage can improve your vitality and mood. Massage can prepare for a long and beautiful life.

Our masseuses personalize each massage session according to the needs of the individual.
Our massage parlors offer a variety of relaxation styles and techniques to help you. Apart from relaxing, massage can be a powerful ally in reducing pain, increasing energy levels, improving mental and physical performance

We recommend : HotAngels , VipZone , JadePalace , ThaiPassion

After a massage session, you will see how the mental prospects are enriched, the body allows easier handling, better pressure resistance, relaxation and mental alertness, calm and creative thinking.
When you have the impression or force yourself to stay straight, your body is not actually aligned properly. Not only does the posture look bad, but it forces some of the muscles to go muddy all day, while others become weaker. After a long time, the incorrect position may cause other drops. For example, internal organs press on what affects digestion, breathing ability is also diminished, which means that much less blood and oxygen reaches the brain and hence all sorts of other complications.

Massage allows you to return your body to the track. Allowing the body to make healthy and accurate movements is one of the greatest benefits of massage. Massage can relax and restore muscles injured by bad posture, allowing the body to position itself in a natural, painless position.
Apart from posture, there is also anxiety. One of the signs of anxiety and stress can also be heavy breathing. When the body begins to breathe too little and deeply instead of breathing at a natural rithm, it is impossible for one to relax. One reason may also be that the chest muscles and the abdomen get tightened and the air gets harder.

Massage plays an important role in learning the body how to relax and how to improve breathing. Respiratory problems such as allergies, sinuses, asthma or bronchitis are a group of conditions that can benefit from massage. In fact, massage can have a positive impact on respiratory function.

Many of the muscles in the front and back of the upper part of the body are breathing accessory. When these muscles are tight and shorten they can block normal breathing and interrupt effective breathing natural rithm. Massage techniques for stretching and relaxing these muscles improves breathing function and breathability. Massage leads to an opening of the chest as well as structural alignment and nerve dilatation that are required for optimal pulmonary function. A good way to treat respiratory problems with massage is the taping made in Swedish massage. When done on the back, along with vibrations, it can detach the mucus from the lungs and can clean the airways for better later function.

Massage not only relaxes muscles, but helps people become aware of daily stress levels. Once the body recognizes what really means relaxation, the mind can rest easily relax before the stress becomes cornice and harmful. This will help you enjoy a balanced life. Massage controls breathing, allows the mind to re-create relaxation before the occurrence of chronic and harmful stress and increases the level of energy.
